How to add custom words to the iPhone dictionary

Open Settings → General → Keyboard → Text Replacement to add a shortcut. To teach autocorrect a word, type it, tap the suggestion bar so iOS accepts your spelling, and use it a few times.

This lives in the system dictionary. A third-party keyboard can still help for styles or rewrites. See BubbleText, mindfulAI, and AlterEgo.
