Why iOS asks for Full Access
iOS shows a Full Access sheet because AlterEgo is a custom keyboard. It replaces text in the app you are typing in, and Rewrite, Reply, and Pro grammar send that selected text over the network.
Full Access does not mean we can read everything you type. The keyboard does not log or upload keystrokes as you type. We only send the text you tap Rewrite, Reply, or Pro grammar on — over HTTPS to AWS API Gateway, our keyboard-ai-proxy, and a model provider. A random device identifier goes with those requests for free-tier rate limits. History, favorites, custom voices, skin, and intensity stay in an App Group on your iPhone.
Turn Full Access on in Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → AlterEgo → Allow Full Access. Typing still works if you leave it off; the cloud rewrite buttons will not.
