Instant Record is a personal-safety evidence locker. We do not operate a media backend and we do not sell your recordings.
What the app captures
When you start protection, the app records camera and microphone media on your iPhone. Clips are stored in the app sandbox, not in Photos. Each clip can include a timestamp, optional GPS coordinates, a SHA-256 hash, and a duress flag.
Location
Location is used only to stamp evidence and, if you unlock Off-Device Protection, to write a current-location file to clouds you connect and to Trusted Circle. You can deny location; video and time stamps still work.
Cloud destinations
If you connect iCloud Drive or Google Drive and unlock Off-Device Protection, finished clips and location files are uploaded to your account. We do not host those files. Google Drive access uses the drive.file scope (only files the app creates). You can disconnect a destination at any time.
Trusted Circle
If you invite contacts through CloudKit sharing, clips and location you choose to share are stored in your iCloud account and visible to people who accept the share and have the app.
Purchases
Off-Device Protection is a one-time App Store purchase processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment card details.
Indicators
iOS always shows a green or orange indicator when the camera or microphone is in use. Instant Record does not hide those indicators.
Children
Instant Record is not directed at children under 13.
Your rights
Contact support@smorgiapps.com to ask questions. Because we do not host your videos, deletion of cloud copies is done in your iCloud or Google account and by deleting the app’s local clips.
Tracking and ads
We do not use tracking, IDFA, or third-party ads.
