Enable the keyboard
- Install AlterEgo from the App Store.
- Open the AlterEgo app once so iOS registers the keyboard.
- Go to Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard… → AlterEgo.
- Tap AlterEgo, then turn on Allow Full Access.
Full Access is required for Rewrite, Reply, and Pro grammar. Those buttons replace text in the host app and send the selected text to our proxy. The keyboard does not log keystrokes as you type.
Switch keyboards
In any text field, tap the globe key on the keyboard until AlterEgo appears. Hold the globe to pick it from the list.

Pro is an auto-renewing Apple subscription: Weekly $2.99 with a 3-day free trial, Monthly $5.99, Yearly $24.99. Prices are in USD on the App Store and may vary by storefront. Cancel in Apple ID subscriptions anytime.
AI rewrite failed / server error
- Confirm Full Access is on: Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → AlterEgo → Allow Full Access.
- Check that the iPhone has a working network (Wi‑Fi or cellular).
- Try Pirate Captain on a short sentence.
- If it still fails, email us with the iOS version, the character you tapped, and whether Rewrite, Reply, or Pro grammar failed.
Manage your subscription
iOS Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions → AlterEgo. Refunds go through Apple, not us.
Restore purchases
Open the AlterEgo app → Settings → Restore Purchases. You must use the same Apple ID that bought Pro.
Privacy and deleting local data
There is no account. Rewrite history, favorites, custom voices, skin, and intensity live on the device. Delete the AlterEgo app to remove that local data. See AlterEgo privacy and the studio privacy policy.
